Manor Adventure

Last weekend the Y6 children from Dordon and Wood End spent the weekend at Manor Adventure in Shropshire completing a wide range of outdoor activities. These include: canoeing, rifle shooting, climbing, abseiling, zip wire and 8 more!

The children were in mixed groups and rooms. This meant they very quickly made friends with new people and by the evening of the first day, you could not tell which school the children were from. In fact, the centre staff could not believe we were two separate schools. This is one of the bonuses of the weekend. Getting to know new people and reduce some of that anxiety about moving on.

The weekend was full of laughter, perseverance and success. Children faced and overcame their fears. We were full of pride for all of them as they achieved their own personal best.  You can see the full narrative of the weekend on the schools' X (Twitter) pages.

As always, this trip could not happen without the generosity and support of the staff who attend. Our staff give up their weekend to take the children away. Mr Chape, Miss Fellows, Mrs Budge, Mr Whitehead and Miss McGroarty made the weekend memorable for the children. Without them, trips like this simply could not happen. Hopefully this weekend they will be getting sleep and recovering!

As the head of both schools, I am immensely proud of the achievements of the children but also of their conduct. Our children once again proved to be polite and supportive; helping each other when things were tricky. Although it is exhausting, those moments make it all worthwhile.
