Learning with the National Memorial Arboretum
Staff members from the National Memorial Arboretum joined us at Dordon to share the meaning of Remembrance and why the Arboretum is such an important place. Every year, when we sell poppies and snap bands, the children are so excited to buy something that the meaning is sometimes lost on them. Although our staff talk to the children about the significance of this time of year, I was thrilled when the Arboretum offered their expertise to come and work with our pupils for the second year running.
This year, each KS2 class created a leaf to add to the Tree of Remembrance at the Arboretum, they found out about the variety of trees planted at the Arboretum and they participated in an act of remembrance.
A big thank you to the team at the Arboretum - we had a fantastic day!
